٦٦. وَقَالَ (عليه السلام): فَوْتُ الْحَاجَةِ أَهْوَنُ مِنْ طَلَبِهَا إِلَى غَيْرِ أَهْلِهَا.
66. Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: To miss what one needs is easier than to beg from an inappropriate person. [1]
Footnotes :
[1] The shame that is faced in putting a request before an inappropriate person gives more mental pain than the grief in not obtaining its fulfilment. That is why non-fulfilment of a request can be tolerated but the obligation to a low and base person is intolerable. Every self-respecting person would therefore prefer deprivation to being under obligation to an inappropriate man, and would not tolerate placing his request before a low and base person.
